What a rush
Wow, I started a new blog, and didn't write in it for a couple weeks. Typical Teddy fashion.
It's kind of weird writing a blog now, knowing that people might actually come and read it. I gotta be careful with what I say. And not reveal too much. Or be too mean. Or talk about the things that are really going through my head.
Busy busy busy. Here's what I'm up to, doncha know?
1st Year in the Ph.D. in Math Education at University of Texas. It's been fun so far, I'm tied to a research project that involves 7th grade students in Texas and California, which is right up my alley of expertise, so that's pretty cool. So far, school isn't too hard, it's just a lot of homework. I never really liked homework, but it's hasn't been too bad so far. We'll see if I'm still singing the same tune come November.
I've been running a whole lot. I signed up for a 10K race this Sunday. I went and ran 6 miles after class today, just to see if I could do it straight. Yep, no problem. But my legs are gonna be sooooore tomorrow. Took me a little less than an hour, which is a pretty slow slow pace. Oh well, I'm cool with that.
Lots of Yoga too. I've been going to Yoga Yoga, a local Austin chain. Pretty cool, but I wonder if they'll ever actually let me sub. Speaking of which, I really need to start teaching, but . . . . there are some complications. We'll just leave it at that.
And going to Church every Sunday. Actually 2 churches, every Sunday. In the morning, I hit Austin Chinese Church, which is pretty nice. Nothing special, but it's comfortable to go to an all Chinese church sometimes, especially because everyone's so friendly and they all seem to remember my name.
At night, I've been hitting up the Austin Stone church, which is Awesome! A pretty big mega-church that meets at Austin High. I've actually only been to one real service, but I loved it. I might start going there more often, but we'll see. I'd still like to see what other churches are like.
Austin City Limits was this weekend. And I'm still coughing and wheezing from inhaling all that dirt in the 104 degree sun. I'm tired tired tired from it, but I can't believe what a fun time it was. Coldplay, The Arcade Fire, The Bravery, Oasis, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Zap Mama, Keane, Bob Mould . . . man, such amazing amazing bands. But, I kept wishing there was just a little bit of hip-hop, you know? Like I used to say: "if it ain't hip-hop, I can't hear it".
And, another amazzzzin reason the ACL fest made Teddy so hap hap happy, but we'll see how that plays out later.
Peace and love.
